Imelda O’Reilly

Imelda O’Reilly is an Irish born filmmaker, scholar, poet and college professor. Her work as a writer/director has been an Official Selections at the Cannes, Sundance, BAM, DOC NYC, RIFF, and Cinequest festivals. She has received awards including Director’s Choice Award at the Black Maria Film and Video Festival and Best Experimental film at the Chain Film Festival. Her portfolio includes a triptych of three films titled Eggs and Soldiers (2016), Tumbling Towards Home (2021), Suspicious Minds (2023) and Under the Wolf’s Cloak (2025). Her film titled Bricks Beds and Sheep’s Heads was nominated for a Student Academy Award. Imelda’s poetry was published by Lapwing Press, Galway Review, Lothlorien Poetry Journal, and Prompt Press. Imelda was a commissioned writer on Song For New York and her fiction was published by Scepter in the UK and Cassandra Voices. She has been awarded fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, Sundance, NYFA, NYSCA. She has an MFA from Columbia University.
