Audrey Peterson is a writer and editor, and the former editor of American Legacy, the magazine of African-American history and culture. She is completing a family memoir about her German and African-American roots that includes the search for the truth about her grandfather, a German officer in World War II, and the lynching of a young man in Alabama, who may or may not have been her relative.
