Introduction from Angie Cruz
Dear ones,
We are thrilled to share the second part of our tenth anniversary double issue, highlighting some of the best short fiction and interviews our journal has to offer.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped in, stepped up, volunteered their time, trusted us with their contributions, accepted our invitations, invited yourselves to the party, forgave us when we didn’t respond, and asked time and time again: “How can we help?” Who said, “If we can help, we will.” Thank you to each and every one of you who makes up this brilliant collective of writers, artists, editors, readers, and community members that we call la Aster(ix) familia.
We have arrived to ten years because we have each other. Aster(ix) was born as a place of play, a laboratory, a publication that invites writers to take their time with their work. It is the censored and omitted. It is footnotes and to be continued. Aster(ix) honors Mayan heart knowing, the alignment with divine will, the torchbearer. We continue to cast lines between the future and the past, the possible and the impossible.
Pa’lante,
Angie
