Sejal Shah’s essays and stories have appeared in Conjunctions, Brevity, Kenyon Review, The Rumpus, Waxwing, and others. Her collection of stories, How to Make Your Mother Cry, was a finalist for the 2017 Mary McCarthy Prize from Sarabande Books and the 2017 Robert C. Jones Prize from Pleiades Press. "The Girl with Two Brothers" is part of this collection. Her nonfiction manuscript, Things People Say, was named a finalist for the 2017 Cleveland State University Poetry Center’s Essay Collection Prize and the 2016 Kore Press Memoir-in-Essays Prize, (selected by Lidia Yuknavitch). She's currently looking for a home for both books. She lives in Rochester, New York.
